Along with the news, the White Sox have also announced infielder/outfielder Jim Gallagher has been transferred to Double-A Birmingham and pitchers Dan Remenowsky and Santos Rodriguez have been promoted to Charlotte from Birmingham. Axelrod was scheduled to start tonight's game for the Knights. Reliever Anthony Carter is now expected to start.
Remenowsky, 26, was 0-0 with two saves and a 1.60 ERA in 17 games for the Double-A Barons at the time of his promotion. The Ohio native appeared in 18 games for Charlotte last season and posted a 2-2 mark with a 4.40 ERA.
