Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
Despite losing for the second straight night in Syracuse, the PawSox close out the first half of the season with a sparkling 45-27 record. Even though the PawSox lost 4-3, they're on pace to win 90 games in 2012. Syracuse took advantage of a Nate Spears error, scoring two unearned runs against loser Doug Mathis (5-4). Trailing 3-0, the offense finally got rolling with solo home runs from Tony Thomas and Alex Hassan and an RBI double from rehabber, Jason Repko. The PawSox were 0-11 with runners in scoring position.
Corey Brown had 3 hits and Jim Negrych had a pair of RBI to pace the Syracuse offense. Xavier Paul had what proved to be the game winning hit, an RBI single in the fifth. Pedro Ciriaco extended his personal hitting streak to 15 games for Pawtucket. Ciriaco went 2-5. Mauro Gomez and Hassan had 2 hits apiece.
The series continues on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. Justin Germano (8-3) faces Mitch Atkins (5-5).
