Gonzalez Struggles in 6-1 Loss

A four-run third inning helped the Buffalo Bisons cruise to a 6-1 win over the Tides Tuesday night at Harbor Park.

Tides starter Miguel Gonzalez (2-2) took the loss after yielding four runs - two earned - on four hits in 3.2 innings of work. The 28-year-old surrendered all four runs in the third inning as Buffalo sent seven men to the plate in the decisive frame.

Gonzalez threw a season-high 82 pitches in the contest, 51 of which went for strikes.

Buffalo starter Matt Harvey (6-3) was impressive in picking up the win, as he held Norfolk to one run on six hits in six innings of work. The 23-year-old right-hander, who entered the season as the #2 prospect in the Mets' organization, walked two and struck out seven to help the Bisons snap a season-high five-game losing streak.

Blake Davis was the only Tide to register two hits, while Jamie Hoffmann singled and walked in four plate appearances. Lew Ford also added a single with runners in scoring position to up his average to .682 (15-for-22) with runners in scoring position this season. Ford is also 9-for-11 (.818 average) with RISP and two outs.

The two clubs will continue their four-game set on Wednesday night, with first pitch from Harbor Park scheduled for 7:15. 49-year-old Jamie Moyer (1-1, 1.50) will make his third start for Norfolk and will be opposed by 25-year-old right-hander Dylan Owen (3-4, 5.23).
