Winston-Salem Dash News Release

FREDERICK, MD (JUNE 24, 2010) - The Chicago White Sox have assigned LHP Chris Sale, the team's first-round pick in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, to the Winston-Salem Dash. Sale (pronounced "SAIL") will join the team in Frederick tonight when it begins its first series of the second half.

The White Sox selected Sale 13th overall out of Florida Gulf Coast University, where he went 11-0 with a 2.01 ERA as a junior. He struck out 146 batters and walked only 14 in 103 innings pitched. The Lakeland, Florida native was the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year and was named the 2010 National Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball.

A top five talent in this month's draft according to Baseball America, Sale dropped to the middle of the first round because of signability concerns. Baseball America reported that he signed for a $1.656 million bonus, which is in line with Major League Baseball's bonus recommendation for the 13th overall pick.

Winston-Salem's roster has reached the Carolina League limit of 25 players.

The Dash returns to BB&T Ballpark on Sunday, June 27 when it begins a six-game home stand with a series against the Salem Red Sox.

The Winston-Salem Dash is the Class-A Advanced minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call 336-714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com .
