ORLANDO, Fla. (May 30, 2006) -- Orlando Predators lineman Greg White has been named the "ADT Defensive Player of the Week" in the Arena Football League for his play against the Philadelphia Soul during Orlando's 31-27 win on Sunday afternoon.

White was dominating in the game, being credited with 3.5 tackles to go with two quarterback sacks and one quarterback hurry. He was part of a defensive line that recorded three quarterback sacks and a season-high five quarterback hurries. Unofficially, the Predators recorded 25 hits on quarterback Soul quarterback Tony Graziani - limiting him to 230 net yards passing and no touchdowns in the second half.

"Greg had an outstanding game," Predators Head Coach Jay Gruden said. "He spearheaded an effort that caused problems for Philadelphia's quarterback all night. In a game where our offense wasn't clicking, we needed a huge effort from our defense and we got one from Greg and the rest of the line."

An AFL Rookie, White is coming off an outstanding first season where he recorded 11.5 tackles with 1.5 quarterback sacks and 5 pass defenses. He was named to the AFL All-Rookie Team earlier this year.

In addition, the AFL named Chicago's WR/DB Dejuan Alfonzo as its "Ironman of the Week" and tabbed San Jose rookie OS Ben Nelson as its "Offensive Player of the Week." Alfonzo caught seven passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns and added three solo tackles and two fumble recoveries in the Rush's 63-46 win over defending ArenaBowl champion Colorado. Nelson caught 12 passes for 202 yards and six touchdowns as San Jose beat Arizona, 62-48.

Orlando, 11-6 on the season, travels to Dallas this week to take on the Desperados, 14-3. The winner earns the National Conference Championship and a trip to ArenaBowl XX on June 11.
