AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

Glenn Horine transitions to start own agency

May 30, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK - The Arena Football League announced today that its President of AFL Properties, GLENN HORINE, will leave his current position to pursue opening his own sports and entertainment marketing agency. Additionally, the AFL will serve as the first client for Horine, who will continue to offer consulting services to the League in preparation for the 2007 season on sales, marketing and special projects.

Horine will remain at his current position through June 30, including ArenaBowl XX, which will be played Sunday, June 11 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Thereafter, he will begin his new endeavor with the AFL as a client.

"This is an ideal time for me and the AFL to transition to our next respective periods of growth," said Horine. "For six years, the AFL has experienced unprecedented growth in revenue, partners, exposure and interest, and continues to be well positioned for another extended period of development. I have had the good fortune to be involved in nearly every aspect of sales and marketing over my 20-year career in sports and felt it was the perfect time to explore building my own sports and entertainment agency."

As President of AFL Properties, Horine managed unprecedented sales and marketing growth for the League from 2000 through 2006. His accomplishments include: Growing revenue by over 2,500 percent in sponsorships and consumer products; securing blue-chip partners such as Aaron's, ADT, Champs Sports, EA Sports, Nike, Schutt Sports, Spalding and U.S. Army; opening the AFL's New York office in 2001; having AFL Properties recognized as the most improved Sports Property by the SportsBusiness Journal survey in 2004; being recognized as a Top 100 marketer by Ad Age in 2001; and negotiating the AFL's first-ever neutral site ArenaBowl in Las Vegas.

"Glenn has been an invaluable asset in building the AFL into one of the fastest growing leagues in all of sports," said Commissioner DAVID BAKER. "We are thankful for his leadership, are excited about his new agency and honored that the AFL will be his first client."

As a result of Horine's departure, the AFL will take the opportunity to restructure its Properties division, specifically its corporate sales staff. The AFL has retained Turnkey Sports & Entertainment to conduct a nationwide executive search for the position of President, AFL Sales. Turnkey is a leading executive sports and experiential marketing search firm.
