New York Dragons News Release

Dragons Defensive back DaShane Dennis has signed a contract with the NFL's Carolina Panthers.

Dennis spent three seasons in the Arena Football League and the last two seasons with the Dragons. In 15 games this season, Dennis led the Dragons defense with 83.0 total tackles and 12 pass breakups. He also recorded seven interceptions for 87 yards, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Dennis started the season at DS before moving to WR/DB where he recorded 10 receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown on offense.

The past week has been exciting and eventful for Dennis as he was just married in Delaware on Saturday. On Monday he traveled to Carolina and signed today.

"Right now I don't feel like any of it is real. It hasn't hit me yet," said Dennis. "I want to thank everyone with the Dragons for their role in helping make this happen for me."

Dragons head Coach Weylan Harding has worked with Dennis over the last two seasons.

"We are really proud of him and I'm glad for him to get this opportunity," said Harding. "It's a testament to the hard work he has put in. The coaching staff and the entire organization wishes him the best as he moves forward."

This season Dennis received numerous honors. He was named Defensive Player of the Game in Week 3 and Week 15 along with Ironman of the Game in Week 5. He was also named a candidate for the AFL Ironman of the Week in Week 13.
