What's Going on with the Griffins

Grand Rapids Griffins News Release


* All Griffins players will sign autographs and be available for photos on the arena concourse.

* The first 1,000 season ticket holders will receive a commemorative Griffins ornament.

* Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to hear holiday wishes at the Section 118 terrace.

* Fans can visit a Reindeer Petting Zoo in the Zamboni tunnel.

* A one-of-a-kind, 7-foot tall Griffins Christmas Tree will be auctioned to the public, with all proceeds benefiting Mel Trotter Ministries. The lighted tree (donated by Eastern Floral) is decorated with game-worn hockey sock garland and ornaments autographed by all Griffins players and coaches, topped off with a red hockey glove for a star and a tree skirt made from last season's goal netting. Sitting beneath the tree is a stick autographed by Detroit Red Wings players. Silent bidding will take place from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

* One lucky season ticket holder will win two tickets to the Detroit Red Wings' game against the New York Rangers on Dec. 21 at Joe Louis Arena.

* Kids can decorate their ornament at a table located under the main staircase in the lobby. * Holiday music will be played over the P.A. system, and Christmas-themed movies will be shown on the arena video board.

* Fans can tour the Griffins' Locker Room and try on hockey equipment, and those who bring their skates can participate in an open skate. * Griff (team mascot) will greet fans and the Griffins' blimp will fly throughout the evening.
