Red Wings Recall Lamothe

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday announced that goaltender Marc Lamothe has been recalled by the Detroit Red Wings. In addition, the Griffins today recalled center Dustin Whitecotton from Missouri of the United Hockey League and goaltender Andrew Allen from Dayton of the East Coast Hockey League, and signed center Andrew Luciuk (LOO-sik) to a professional tryout.

Lamothe, 28, posted a team-record 13-game unbeaten streak (9-0-4) from Oct. 19 to Nov. 27. He was named the AHL's Player of the Week on Nov. 18, after earning consecutive shutouts and setting a franchise record for longest shutout streak (153:58). Lamothe, who will be available for the Red Wings when they visit Dallas tonight, ranks among the AHL's leaders with nine wins (T3rd), a 2.07 goals against average (T2nd), two shutouts (T3rd) and a 0.927 save percentage (4th).

Whitecotton, 23, paces the UHL's River Otters and is tied for ninth in the league with 26 points (8-18-26) in 20 contests. He scored one goal during an eight-game stint with the Griffins last season. Allen, 26, has played 13 games for the ECHL's Bombers this season, posting a 4-7-1 record with a 3.33 GAA, a 0.889 save percentage and one shutout. He owns a 1-5-0 record and a 2.89 GAA in seven career AHL outings. Luciuk, 25, ranks second in the UHL with 15 goals, and he leads the defending Colonial Cup champion Fury with 21 points (15-6-21) in 19 games.

All three additions will be available for the Griffins tonight when they host the Utah Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m.
