February 27, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
SANTA CRUZ - Facing the Santa Cruz Warriors (23-13) for the first and only time this season, the Westchester Knicks (9-27), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, suffered a 117-91 loss.
Westchester forward Darnell Jackson dominated the first quarter, leading all scorers with 14 of the Knicks' 24 points. The teams traded leads four times with three ties, the Warriors outscoring Westchester to hang on through the first twelve minutes 30-24.
Santa Cruz out-rebounded the Knicks 22 to 14 in the first half, racking up a 19 point lead in the second quarter. Center Jordan Bachynski tried to spark something for Westchester, followed by a Doron Lamb block, but the buzzer ended the short burst with the Knicks heading to the locker room trailing 66-49.
The lead would stretch even further for the Warriors, at one point by 32 points. Westchester was held to just 17 points in the third, the Knicks hitting just six of their twenty field goal attempts. The fourth fared no better for the Knicks, who ultimately fell 117-91 to the Warriors.
Darnell Jackson posted a new career-high 31 points, securing the double-double with 11 rebounds. Walker Russell Jr. contributed 15 points and 5 assists; Durrell Summers hit double digits with 11 points as did Trey Gilder with a last minute bucket, hitting 10 points.
Ognjen Kuzmic paced the Warriors with 27 points, supplying 12 rebounds for the double-double. Dominique Sutton came off the bench to score 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Elliot Williams finished with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Westchester Knicks make their way back east with a stop in Austin Texas, taking on the Austin Spurs, the San Antonio Spurs' affiliate, on Sunday, March 1. The game will be broadcast live on MSG and YouTube at 6:00 p.m. ET.
