Grand Rapids, Mich. - Feb. 27 - The Grand Rapids Drive (17-17) defeated the Delaware 87ers (16-20) at home on Friday night by a score of 140-97 in their first game after making two big trades.
The Drive recently acquired Diante Garrett from the Iowa Energy and Kevin Murphy from the Idaho Stampede and traded away Willie Reed and Brandon Fields.
They were able to run away with the game regardless, leading by almost 30 points before the second quarter came to a close, including a 24-0 run at one point.
Delaware's loss ends a strong five-game winning streak for the Sevens.
The Drive managed an impressively balanced scoring attack, as seven players scored in double figures.
Kelsey Barlow was Grand Rapids' leading scorer with 22 points. Hasheem Thabeet added eight points, seven rebounds and six blocks and Adonis Thomas had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Maalik Wayans paced the Sevens with 17 points off the bench and Jared Cunningham and Victor Ruud both had 15.
Delaware heads back home to take on the Canton Charge tomorrow, while the Drive hit the road to play the Maine Red Claws the same day.
