Idaho Falls to White, Vipers

Boise, Idaho - The Stampede fell to Tyrone White and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 117-148 on Friday night. White led all scorers with 38 points and added 10 assists in the effort.

Idaho closed the first quarter on a 12-4 run to pull within four points of the Vipers. The second quarter saw six lead changes as the teams continued to trade buckets. Vipers guard White knocked down five 3-pointers in the quarter, propelling Rio Grande Valley to a 73-60 halftime advantage.

Stampede guard Jermaine Taylor scored seven points in the first few minutes of the third quarter, cutting Idaho's deficit to 10 points with 9:24 remaining in the period. RGV guard Chris Johnson answered with eleven straight points as the Vipers proved to be too strong down the stretch, extending their lead and closing out the game.

Taylor led Idaho with 20 points. The Stampede received 70 points from the bench, including 18 from Utah Jazz assignee Ian Clark. Newly acquired Brandon Fields also scored 18 points in his Stampede debut.

White scored 30 of his 38 points in the first half for the Vipers. Houston Rockets rookie Clint Capela posted 19 points and 10 rebounds on assignment. Rio Grande Valley shot 55 percent from the floor and 48 percent from beyond the arc.

The two teams are back in action at CenturyLink Arena tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
