
Westchester Knicks Continue to Lead the Pack with Win over Iowa

WHITE PLAINS, NY - The Westchester Knicks (26-14), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, maintains its spot at the top of the NBA G League with a 107-83 win tonight over the Iowa Wolves (18- 18), the Minnesota Timberwolves' affiliate.
For the third game in a row, Knicks affiliate Xavier Rathan-Mayes led Westchester in scoring with 25 points, adding seven assists, four steals, and three rebounds. Affiliate Nigel Hayes finished with 22 points in the win, with seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Guard Billy Garrett supplied 16 points with four rebounds and three assists and Two-Way player Isaiah Hicks rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots. From the bench, Devon Baulkman and Adam Woodbury provided eight points, the latter also grabbing 11 boards.
On assignment from the Timberwolves, Melo Trimble paced Iowa with 19 points to go with six assists and four each of rebounds and steals. Two-Way player Amile Jefferson had the game's sole double-double of 12 points and 17 rebounds; Perry Jones III also contributing 12 points. Guard Elijah Millsap provided 14 points from the pine while taking eight rebounds.
Iowa used a 15-4 run to take a quick double-digit lead to start the game. Battling back, the Knicks pulled in to make it a one-possession game off back-to-back threes from Xavier Rathan-Mayes, tying it up with 1:48 on the clock. Tied 24-24 is where the teams would end after one. Keeping it close in the second, neither team led by more than four outside of a quick moment with 1:15 on the clock when Westchester went up by five. Led by an 11-point second quarter from Rathan- Mayes, the Knicks ended the half up by four.
That lead extended to 16 in the third as Westchester held Iowa to just 12 points. That 16-point lead turned into an 18-point lead on the second possession of the fourth quarter, as the Wolves never regained enough strength against a powering Knicks team. Eventually Westchester's lead would go up to 21 points, then 23, and as high as 25, with the home team ultimately winning the game by 24 points.
The Westchester Knicks return to the historic Westchester County Center this Saturday, Feb. 24 to host the Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptors' affiliate, for a 3:00 p.m. ET tip. The game will be broadcast nationally on Eleven Sports Network and will be streamed live locally via Facebook Live.
The Iowa Wolves will host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Houston Rockets' affiliate, at home next on Friday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. CT. That game will be will be streamed live via Facebook Live.
