
West Virginia Power lose 6-3 to Asheville

HIGHLIGHTS: The West Virginia Power lost 6-3 to the Asheville Tourists on Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park. Jared Clark hit two home runs and Wes Musick shut out the Power on four hits over seven innings to send West Virginia to its first home loss of the season.
Clark hit a three-run home run off Hunter Strickland in the top of the first. Strickland issued a walk and allowed a base hit before Clark brought home the first runs of the game. Sunday marked the third straight game that Asheville took and early lead against the Power's starting pitcher. The Tourists added two runs in the second inning to build a 5-0 advantage.
Musick was sharp four Asheville, scattering the base hits over separate innings and striking out eight, including the side in the fourth inning. West Virginia did not get on the board until the eighth inning against reliever Paul Bargas. Ramon Cabrera singled to start the inning, Adenson Chourio walked, and bengie Gonzalez singled to load the bases. One out later, Even Chambers singled and drove in a pair. After Kyle Morgan was hit by a pitch, Jesus Brito drove in the Power's final run with a sacrifice fly.
In the ninth, Clark hit a solo home run to cap the scoring at 6-5.
Strickland (0-2) was charged with the loss after surrendering five runs on nine hits over five innings of work. Musick (2-1) notched the win, and Charles Ruiz pitched a perfect ninth for the save.
West Virginia and Asheville close this series on Monday night at Appalachian Power Park. Nathan Baker is slated to start for the Power against the Tourists' Dan Perkins. First pitched is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
