POWER REPLAY: West Virginia beat Hickory 6-5 Friday night to close out the season series with the Crawdads. Hickory held a 4-1 lead after an inning and a half, but a Rogelio Noris home run and an Andy Vasquez triple keyed a rally to tie the game at four after two. The Crawdads regained the lead in the fourth, and the Power rallied again in the sixth to even things out at five. In the seventh, Mel Rojas Jr. drove in Vasquez with a single to put the West Virginia in the lead for good. Rinku Singh earned the win in his South Atlantic League debut, and Jason Townsend notched his eighth save of the season.

STOPPED AT SEVEN: West Virginia snapped its season-high seven game losing streak with Friday night's win. During this stretch, the team was outscored 50-18 and lost by at least two runs in each game.

VERGE OF HISTORY: Rogelio Noris has 24 career home runs for West Virginia over a season and a half in a Power jersey. Noris has now matched Stephen Chapman for the most home runs in any player's Power career. Chapman hit a single-season record 24 home runs in a Power uniform in 2007.

TRIPLE THREAT: Andy Vasquez's triple last night gives him nine for the season, tops in the SAL so far. Vasquez's total has surpassed Alcides Escobar, Hernan Iribarren, and Lee Haydel for the second-most three base hits in a season in Power history. Quincy Latimore holds the single season record with 10 during the 2009 campaign.

TIME TO CLIMB: The Power have the league's worst record this month at 2-12, three wins fewer than the next lowest total. The team's batting average is .239, second lowest in the league at the halfway point of the month, and the staff earned run average is at 6.75, the highest in the SAL.

CHARLIE SOUTH TO CHARLIE WEST: West Virginia opens a three game series against the Charleston RiverDogs tonight. The clubs will play 11 more times this season only after only playing a total of four times in 2010. West Virginia leads the all-time set 14-9, and the Power have a 6-2 lead since 2005 at Appalachian Power Park. The RiverDogs have not played in West Virginia since the 2009 season.

LOPEZ TO DL: The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed Porfirio Lopez on the Power disabled list, retroactive to July 13, and added Rinku Singh from the State College roster. Lopez is 1-3 with a 4.18 ERA for the Power this season, and went 1-1 with a 5.49 earned run average for Bradenton. Singh was signed by Pittsburgh in 2008 after winning the Indian reality show "The Million Dollar Arm." This season, the southpaw was 0-2 with a 2.16 ERA with the Spikes.

ROLLIN STOPS: Justin Howard was held hitless Wednesday and saw his nine-game hitting streak snapped. The first baseman hit .323 during his streak, matching Matt Curry and Drew Maggi for the longest hitting streak by any Power player this season.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia is the only club in the SAL who has not hit a grand slam this season... Drew Maggi's 17 home game on-base streak was snapped Wednesday. The streak dated back to May 21... Rinku Singh has now pitched at four levels in the Pirates organization this season...
