Legends' Lane homers twice, but Suns win 4-2

Two solo home runs by Lexington's Bryce Lane were not enough as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the Lexington Legends 4-2 on Saturday night in front of 5,724 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Hagerstown scored a run in the first inning.. With one out, Adrian Sanchez singled to center, advanced to third when the ball bounced past center fielder Jay Austin for an error, and scored when David Freitas grounded out to shortstop. The Suns added another run in the third when Freitas hit a solo home run. In 11 games against Lexington, Freitas has driven in 15 runs. Lane hit his first home run in the bottom of the sixth, but Hagerstown extended its lead to 4-1 in the seventh when Michael Taylor homered to left-center with Mills Rogers on base. Lane homered for the second time in the bottom of the eighth to close out the scoring. Hagerstown starter Chris McKenzie (3-3) picked up the win. He worked six innings, and allowed only one run on Lane's first homer. Sam Brown pitched the final three innings for the Suns to get his third save. Lexington starter Luis Cruz (1-2) took the loss after allowing four runs in six and one-third innings. Game two of the three game series will be played Sunday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
