POWER REPLAY: West Virginia beat Augusta 1-0 on Saturday. Zack Dodson, Brooks Pounders, and Jason Townsend combined to shutout the GreenJackets with Pounders notching the win and Townsend earning his first save. Matt Curry scored the only run of the game when he scored on a seventh inning ground out. The Power were held to just four hits, including two by Curry.

OH SNAP: West Virginia stopped its road losing streak at seven with a 1-0 win last night. The Power lost their first road game of the season (April 15 at Augusta), won the next three, were subsequently swept in five games at Kannapolis, and fell in the first two games of this series. After today's game, the Power play four in Charleston, SC.

MASTERING THE GREENJACKETS: For the first time in history, West Virginia won a series at Augusta. The Power won the final three games during the series at Lake Olmstead Stadium from April 15 through 18 to take the set from the GreenJackets. Augusta still leads the all-time series 23-16, but the Power had never won more than twice (2007) on the road at the GreenJackets home park. These clubs will meet for the final time during the 2011 regular season today.

STREAKING STUFF: Mel Rojas had his five game hitting streak stopped last night with an 0-1 performance. Only two players have hit in six straight so far this season (Justin Howard and Matt Curry), and no player has reached on base hits in seven or more consecutive games this season.

NOT A GOOD START TO THE WEEKEND: West Virginia is a combined 0-7 in games played on a Thursday or Friday. The Power hold an 12-8 record over the rest of the days of the week combined, including a 6-2 mark on Saturdays and Sundays (combined).

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT: On Thursday, West Virginia played it longest game of the season time-wise, falling 7-6 in a nine-inning game that lasted three hours and 13 minutes. The Power's loss last night occurred during their shortest game of the season; a nine inning affair that took only one hour and 58 minutes.

START ME UP: Jameson Taillon pitched four shutout innings Monday during the second appearance of his professional career. The 19 year-old right-hander only allowed two hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out six, including five over the first two innings of game one of the Power doubleheader against Greensboro. Taillon was selected second overall by the Pirates during the 2010 draft.

SERIES STARTING STRUGGLES: West Virginia dropped its sixth series opener in seven tries with a 7-6 loss Thursday at Augusta. The Power had lost their first five openers prior to a 5-2 win last Saturday against Greensboro.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia has not split a series yet this season, but can do so with a win today. The Power have won three sets and lost three so far this season... West Virginia pitchers combined for their fourth shutout of the season yesterday. The 2010 edition tossed eight total shutouts... The Power will open a four-game homestand against Kannapolis on May 13 at Appalachian Power Park. West Virginia will wear special charity jerseys to be auctioned off to raise money for Relay for Life.
