Hagerstown Takes Slugfest over Legends 12-11

Blake Kelso's grand slam broke a 7-7 tie in the third inning and the Hagerstown Suns went on to a 12-11 win over the Lexington Legends Sunday in Hagerstown.

The Legends had jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first. Two of the runs came on Adam Bailey's eighth home run of the year. But Hagerstown came back with two runs in the bottom of the first. The Legends scored once in the second to take a 5-2 lead, but the Suns scored five in the bottom of the second, three on Michael Taylor's home run.

Lexington evened the score at 7-7 in the top of the third on Emilio King's two -run single, but Kelso's slam in the bottom of the inning put Hagerstown in front for good.

Delino DeShields hit a solo home run as part of a two-run sixth for Lexington. Hagerstown scored once in the bottom of the sixth for a 12-9 lead. The Legends pulled to within a run on King's two -run homer in the seventh, but there was no further scoring by either team.

Hagerstown took three of four in the series.

The Legends open a four-game series in Kannapolis Monday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
