Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL: The Power beat the Intimidators 3-2 on Saturday evening. West Virginia took a 2-0 lead in the second on a home run by Rogelio Noris and a run-scoring triple by Wes Freeman. Kannapolis tied the game in the fifth when Ian Gac doubled in a pair. In the Power sixth, Freeman brought home the eventual winning run with a sac fly. Jason Erickson notched the win, while Zach Foster picked up his team-high third save.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK: Rogelio Noris' home run on Saturday was his third in as many games. Noris went yard against Erick Carrillo on Thursday in the Power's 5-3 loss and hit a home run off of Terry Doyle in the fourth inning of Friday's 2-0 win. Three of Noris' four home runs have come off of Kannapolis pitchers, and he is the first Power hitter to hit a home run in three consecutive games.

STELLAR START: Kyle McPherson pitched seven solid innings of four-hit ball while earning the win on Friday. It was the third seven-inning start by a Power pitcher this season and second by McPherson. West Virginia has won both of the right-hander's seven inning starts this season, but lost Hunter Strickland's earlier this homestand against Greensboro.

E: In Friday's win, West Virginia committed three errors in a game for the third time this season. It was, however, the first time that they won a game while matching their season-high in miscues. The Power committed three errors on April 9 in a 5-0 loss at Savannah and on April 21 in a 6-4 loss to Greenville. West Virginia is 3-7 when committing two or more errors in a single game this year.

BACK ON TRACK: Jarek Cunningham had two hits in Thursday's loss and snapped five game hitless streak. Cunningham's last base hit came on April 26 at Kannapolis, and then the Power infielder proceeded to go without a base hit in his next 21 at bats. Since appearing in the league's top ten hitters on April 15, Cunningham has seen his average drop from .353 to .267 by going 15 for 67 (.224 average over 17 games).

RECENT HISTORY: West Virginia beat Kannapolis three times during a four game set from April 25 through April 28. The Power outscored the Intimidators 24-13 during their series at FieldCrest Cannon Stadium in April. West Virginia hit .321 during the series, while Kannapolis hit at a .261 clip. Power hitters banged out 43 hits during the series, compared 30 for the Intimidators.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia is 3-16 when scoring four runs or less in a game this year, but holds a 10-0 mark when scoring five or more... Power hitters struck out 15 times on Friday, setting a high-water mark. West Virginia hitters had previous struck out no more than 12 times in any one game this season... Bengie Gonzalez has been held with out a hit in his last eight games (0-24 overall since fifth inning single on 4/29).

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh shutout St. Louis 2-0 at PNC Park. Jeff Karstens earned the win with six innings of three-hit ball... Indianapolis lost 4-3 to Buffalo... Altoona edged Erie 9-7... Bradenton held off Charlotte 7-5.

ON THE AIR: All 140 West Virginia Power games can be heard on ESPN Radio 1490 AM in Charleston, WV, across the state on the Power Radio Network, and online at milb.com.
