Rome Defeats Asheville 4-2

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Asheville Tourists Sunday afternoon 4-2 in front of 2,391 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Chris Masters was dominant for the Braves going eight innings and giving up one run on four hits with ten strike outs for his first win of the season.

Rome was the first to get on the board when Kyle Rose scored on an RBI single from Braeden Schlehuber in the first inning to make the score 1-0.

Asheville scored in the fifth to tie the game when Angelys Nina doubled and later scored on a double from Orlando Sandoval.

The Braves took the lead for good in the eighth when Schlehuber singled to left scoring pinch runner Mycal Jones. Osman Marval singled to bring home Jordan Kreke, followed by a Matt Weaver single to score Schlehuber for the 4-1 lead. Asheville scored a single run in the ninth but Rome pitching held on for the 4-2 win.

Chris Masters (1-2) earns his first win of the season for Rome while Paul Bargas (0-2) picks up the loss for Asheville. Tyrelle Harris gets his fourth save for the Braves.
