West Virginia Black Bears Release 2016 Roster

With Opening Day fast approaching, the West Virginia Black Bears are excited to announce the 2016 Black Bears' team roster.

The 2016 roster includes six members of the 2015 Championship team; ten players who have been with the Pirates organization over the last year, as well as several other 2016 Pirates draft picks. Of the 41 draft picks selected by the Pirates, 3B William Craig, SS Stephan Alemais, LHP Cameron Vieaux, RHP Dylan Prohoroff, CF Eagan Clark, RHP Matt Anderson are just a few of those who will be coming to Monongalia County Ballpark.

3B William Craig, the 21 year-old All- American, was the first round, 22nd overall, pick for the Pirates. Craig was drafted as a junior from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In 2015 he had an exceptional year being named ACC Player of the Year, Louisville Slugger First Team All-American, D1Baseball First Team All-American, and Perfect Game First Team All-American. While at Wake Forest, he was a functional player being used as a pitcher and third baseman. On the mound, he had a career 4.94 ERA in 85.2 IP. At bat, he ended his career with .347 AVG., 37 HRs, and 160 RBIs. On June 15, Craig officially signed with the Pirates.

SS Stephan Alemais, third round pick, was drafted from Tulane University in New Orleans. For his career, the shortstop had a .293 AVG, 3 HRs and 69 RBIs. LHP Cameron Vieaux, from Michigan State, was drafted by the Pirates in the sixth round. Vieaux had 2.28 ERA IN 87.0 IP his senior year. RHP Dylan Prohoroff was picked up in the eighth round from California State- Fullerton. Prohoroff had a record of 10-3, 108.1 IP with a 2.16 ERA, 90 strikeouts and 34 walks. CF Eagan Clark, the ninth round pick, was drafted as a junior from University of Arkansas. Eagan ended his college season with a .295 AVG., 11 HRs and 80 RBIs. RHP Matt Anderson was the tenth round pick from Morehead State University. Anderson had a career 6.58 ERA in 53.1 IP.
