Cutters Victorious on Opening Night

The Williamsport Crosscutters opened their 10th season as an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies with a 4-1 win over the State College Spikes at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.

The Cutters plated three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, capitalizing on a pair of State College errors in the frame. Jose Antequera started the scoring with an RBI single that plated Juan Luis for the Cutters first run. Arquimedes Gamboa capped the scoring in the inning with a RBI ground out that scored Antequera.

Williamsport tagged on their fourth run in the 6th inning thanks to a Jesus Alastre RBI single that scored Enmanuel Garcia to give the Cutters a 4-0 lead.

State College plated their lone run in the top of the 9th on a double by Bladimil Franco that scored Ricardo Bautista.

Williamsport received an outstanding start from Adonis Medina, who went 6 shut-out innings, allowing just three hits, walking two and striking out one, while picking up his 1st Crosscutters win. Jeff Singer provided a pair of scoreless innings of relief in the winning effort for the Crosscutters.
