Connecticut Tigers Announce Opening Day Roster

NORWICH, CT - With the Connecticut Tigers set to kick off their 2016 season tonight at the Tri-City ValleyCats, affiliate of the Houston Astros, at 7:05 p.m. The Tigers are excited to announce the 2016 Opening Day roster. The roster consists of 29 players, with several familiar faces from last year's team.

The roster is headlined by the return of 2015 New York-Penn League All-Star outfielder Victor Padron. Other returning players include outfielder Joey Havrilak, infielders Keaton Jones, Tanner Donnels and Josh Lester. Pitchers Oswaldo Castillo, Locke St. John and Michael Vinson are also back.

Mike Rabelo returns for his third season as the manager of the Tigers and his fifth season in Norwich overall. Rabelo's coaching staff includes two coaches in their first season with the Tigers. Mike Hessman is the hitting coach for the ball club, while Ace Adams is the pitching coach.

The Tigers kick off Opening Night at Dodd Stadium on Wednesday June 22 at 7:05 p.m. against the New York Mets affiliate, Brooklyn Cyclones. Opening Night will consist of a Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by Dime Bank. Following the game there will also be post-game fireworks presented by Pyrotecnico.

The series finale on Friday, June 24 is Country Music Night at the ballpark. There will be live music and much more courtesy of 97.7 WCTY. After the game there will be Friday Fireworks, presented by Pryotecnico.

All three games against Brooklyn will start at 7:05 p.m. Gates open an hour prior to first pitch.

The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play a 76 game schedule that runs from mid-June through early September. 2016 season tickets, group tickets, mini plans, individual game tickets, and team merchandise are now on sale!
