Biloxi Shuckers News Release

BILOXI, MS - In a move announced by the Milwaukee Brewers today, Biloxi Shuckers infielder Wendell Rijo has been traded to the New York Yankees organization to complete the transaction that sent Eric Kratz to Milwaukee in May.

Rijo is the "player to be named later" in the deal that saw Kratz added to the Milwaukee roster on May 25. The 23-year-old Dominican appeared in 32 games with the Shuckers this season, slashing .200/.304/.355/.675. He belted four home runs, including two against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on May 4. Rijo was originally acquired by the Brewers from the Red Sox along with Aaron Wilkerson in exchange for major leaguer Aaron Hill.

Kratz has played in seven games at catcher with the big-league club in 2018, collecting ten hits while launching four home runs.

As a corresponding roster move, the Shuckers have activated infielder Darren Seferina from the disabled list. Seferina has appeared in 12 games for the Shuckers after being signed in early May.

Biloxi continues a five-game series to wrap up their first half against the Mississippi Braves on Saturday night at 6:35 PM CT. With the division clinched, the Shuckers and M-Braves have two more meetings before the All-Star break that begins on Monday.
