Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

RABBIT TAILS

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (21-35-7-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, are ready to tee off against the Jacksonville Icemen (25-32-4-3) tonight at 7 p.m. Greenville returns home to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena to face the Icemen for the ninth time this season, beginning a two game set against their South Division rival in the Upstate. The Swamp Rabbits have won three of eight meetings with the Icemen this season, but have split the last two decisions. Since their last meeting on Feb. 6, Jacksonville has posted a 9-6-1-0 record and are eight points out of playoff contention with eight games remaining.

GOLF FOR GREENVILLE

Tonight is Golf Night presented by Golf for Greenville. The Swamp Rabbits will be wearing special jerseys which will be available during a post-game auction. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the Golf for Greenville charities (Greenville Free Medical Clinic, Goodwill, and Make-A-Wish South Carolina). The 29th annual Golf for Greenville Tournament is presented by Fluor and interested golfers can still register to be a part of the May 7 tournament.

'FORE' NEW PLAYERS

The Swamp Rabbits added four players from NCAA teams this week. Forwards Timmy Moore, Spencer Dorowicz, and Johno May and defenseman Robert Powers were all signed to their first pro contracts with the Swamp Rabbits in the last four days. May comes to Greenville from American International College where he recorded 60 points (22G, 38A) in four years with the Yellow Jackets. Dorowicz, Powers, and Moore all played together for the last four seasons at Robert Morris University. Moore was the top point producer with 76 points (36G, 40A) with the Colonials and is coming off a career best 36-point season. Dorowicz notched 59 points (23G, 36A) and played 145 games in his NCAA tenure, tenth most in school history. Powers posted 14 points (2G, 12A) from the blue line during a career best season and played every game for Robert Morris this year.

D-MAN RETURNS

Blue liner Sergey Zborovskiy was reassigned to the Swamp Rabbits on Thursday afternoon. The defenseman has earned two call ups to the AHL this season after producing 17 points (5G, 12A) in 39 games with the Swamp Rabbits. The rookie has notched three power play goals this season and ranks third on Greenville's blue line this year in goals. Only two other rookie ECHL defensemen have more power play goals than the Russian born skater. Zborovskiy's first pro season comes after setting the Regina Pats' franchise record with a career rating of plus-102.

ALL ABOUT THAT BASS

Alternate captain Joe Basaraba has scored a goal in each of the last two games and has earned six points over his last six games. The fourth-year forward has missed just one game this season and is tied with Evan Jasper for the team lead with 44 points (18G, 26A). The 6-foot-2 Ontario native has recorded a career high 26 points this year and is just two points shy of tying his single season best. Basaraba has collected 154 points (65G, 89A) in his career spanning 253 games.

GOOD STARTS ARE KEY

The Icemen have outscored their opponents 69-52 in the first period this season and have scored the fourth most goals in the first period in the ECHL. Only three teams in the league have a better scoring spread than the Icemen at +17 in the opening period. Jacksonville has scored first 37 times this season and are 18-14-4-1 in those games (7-18-0-2 when their opponent scores first).

CARROT BITES

Greenville has signed nine collegiate players in the last month.

Defenseman Sean Flanagan has earned an assist in each of the last three games, tying the rookie's longest point streak this season.

Jacksonville has surged in the second half of the year with a 15-10-1-1 record in the last 27 games.

All eight games between Greenville and Jacksonville have been decided in regulation.

The Swamp Rabbits power play ranks sixth in the league with 49 goals (18.8%), while the Icemen are at the bottom of the ECHL with only 24 goals on the man advantage (9.5%).

Icemen netminder Austin Lotz has played in 11 straight contests and has seen action in 21 of the last 25 games.
