Quad City Mallards News Release

TULSA, Okla. - Jamie Tardif scored twice and C.J. Motte made 40 saves as the Quad City Mallards (21-40-4) defeated the host Tulsa Oilers (29-25-11) 3-2 Friday night.

Tardif provided both a tie-breaking goal in the second period and, in the third period, what proved to be the game winner. After Tulsa's Alexandre Ranger finished off a 3-on-2 rush to even the score at one at 9:30 of the second Tardif's blast from the slot put the Mallards back on top at 14:03.

Tardif then stretched the Mallard lead to 3-1 by pouncing on a rebound at 7:25 of the third. Tardif's second stood up as the difference after Steven Kaunisto reduced the gap to 3-2 with just eight seconds left in the game. The Oilers were up 6-on-4 after pulling goaltender Jake Hildebrand and going on the power play when Kaunisto fired the puck home from the left point but the Mallards would then hold on through the final seconds.

The Mallards first moved in front on Alex Globke's tip-in at 10:40 of the first period. Motte was particularly strong in the Mallard crease while making 31 saves over the first 40 minutes.

The Mallards and Oilers meet again tomorrow night in Tulsa.

The Mallards next play at home Wednesday night, April 4 at 6:35 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush. All seats for the April 4 game are available for just $5.

Tickets for the April 4 game- and all remaining Mallards regular season home games- are also now on sale at the TaxSlayer Center box office, Ticketmaster toll free charge-by-phone (1-800-745-3000) and ticketmaster.com.
