CLINCHING A PLAYOFF BERTH
The Monarchs can clinch a playoff spot tonight with a victory and a Wheeling Nailers or Worcester Railers loss. Currently the Monarchs sit first in the North Division with 83 points, trailed by the Adirondack Thunder (81), the Reading Royals (76), Wheeling Nailers (72) and Worcester Railers (68). If the playoffs started today, the Monarchs would play the Wheeling Nailers in the first round.
WHO BREAKS FIRST
Manchester enters tonight's game on a six-game winning streak, dating back to Mar. 4, while Adirondack is riding a streak of their own, picking up a point in their last five games with a 4-0-0-1 record. The last time the Monarchs lost was at the hands on the Thunder on Mar. 3, while the Adirondack's last regulation loss was to the Monarchs on Mar. 9. This season, the Monarchs have posted a record of 4-4-1-1 against the Thunder.
THUNDEROUS POWER PLAY
Adirondack's power play ranks 8th in the league, scoring at 18.5%, but have dominated against the Monarchs penalty kill, scoring on nine of 33 power-play chances against Manchester, good for 29%. Manchester's penalty kill ranks 8th in the league at 84.6%, but have given up nine of their 40 power-play goals against to Adirondack, killing off only 71% of their penalties.
