The Wave came out roaring against the Kansas City Comets, getting the better of several minor foul situations before finally getting opening goal from Max Ferdinand (assisted by Guilherme Veiga) off a power play. The Wave increased their advantage 15 seconds later with a goal by Derek Huffman, assisted by Isaac Pereyra, making it a 2-0 game.

Kansas City would score a goal to close the distance between them and the Wave, but the Wave would respond with a goal from Ian Bennett, assisted by Daniel Chamale, for the last goal of the first period and as it would turn out, the half as the Wave went into halftime with a 3-1 lead. Bennett would score another power play goal in the third period (assisted by Angel Curiel) to give the Wave a 4-1 lead.

The Comets scored their goal in the third period to give Kansas City life despite trailing 4-2 heading into the fourth period. Bennett would score another power play goal (assisted by Curiel) 1:22 into the fourth period for a 5-2 advantage.

Both teams would continue to jockey for position intense offensive and defensive struggles, and in spite of the Wave's best effort the Comets would score a pair of goals with half the fourth to play.

Andre Hayne would then score what could have the game-winning goal (assisted by Chad Vandegriffe) with 3:10 left in the fourth period and the Wave up 6-4. However, the Comets managed to rally and tie the game 6-6 as regulation expired, meaning we were headed to overtime.

The drama nor the level of play disappointed anyone in overtime, but in the end Vandegriffe got the game-winning goal 2:15 into overtime off a sensational setup by Hayne.

Coach Giuliano Oliviero felt the "first three quarters of tonight's game were some the best we have played all season, everything from ball control to defensive formation and especially special teams was all on point." Coach Oliviero did lament allowing Kansas City get back in the game, "the fourth period, we gave some special teams' plays and allowed to score when they had an extra attacker, some stuff to clean going forward, but satisfied with game result." Coach Oliviero also is ready welcome the many former Wave players current with the St. Louis, as they hope to save their season against the Wave.

Final Score / Overtime: Milwaukee Wave 7, Kansas City Comets 6.
