Washington Spirit News Release
Washington, D.C. - Washington Spirit forward Rosemonde Kouassi has been called up to the Ivory Coast Women's National Team for the 2026 FIFA Series in Abidjan, the Ivorian Football Federation announced today. Kouassi and Ivory Coast will take on Mauritania, Turks and Caicos Islands and Pakistan later this month with all three matches taking place at Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Kouassi made her senior debut for the Ivorian national team during the 2020 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women's Olympic qualifying tournament, helping Ivory Coast to the semifinals before falling to eventual runner-up Cameroon. More recently, Kouassi scored an equalizer in a friendly against Ghana last May before converting a penalty against Senegal last October.
Ivory Coast's April Schedule:
vs Mauritania | Thursday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. EDT
vs Turks and Caicos Islands | Sunday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. EDT
vs Pakistan | Thursday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m. EDT
Kouassi has appeared in 37 total matches for Washington since joining the side in the summer of 2024. With eight goals and 11 assists so far in her Spirit career, Kouassi is a consistent attacking threat for the club. The forward provided two assists in November's NWSL playoffs, including the match-winner for the Spirit in the semifinal round against Portland.
The Spirit will next take the pitch at Audi Field on Friday, April 24 when the side hosts the defending Shield winner Kansas City Current. Kicking off at 8 p.m. EDT, the match will see the top two teams from last season face off. Tickets are available at WashingtonSpirit.com/tickets.
