
San Diego Wave FC Midfielder Lia Godfrey Named NWSL Rookie of the Month for March

SAN DIEGO - The National Women's Soccer League announced today that San Diego Wave FC midfielder Lia Godfrey has been named NWSL Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, for the month of March by the NWSL Media Association and the league's on-air broadcast talent.
Godfrey made an immediate impact in the first month of her professional career, scoring three goals in three consecutive matches to earn the Rookie of the Month honors. She scored the opening goal in San Diego's 2-0 win over Chicago and netted the game-winning goal in the 87th minute against the Utah Royals FC to secure the team's first win of the season.
Through the first month of regular season play, the Wave have earned a 3-0-1 record, currently sitting in second place in league standings. In a seven day period, the Club earned three consecutive wins, outscoring the opponents 7-2.
San Diego heads on the road to face Boston Legacy on Friday, April 3 at 4:00 p.m. PT. The match will be streamed live on NWSL+ and broadcast on KUSI San Diego. The Club returns to Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday, May 3 for Kids Day. Tickets for the match can be purchased here.
The NWSL Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league consistently, and the NWSL's on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of March are based on performances during regular season matches.
