Washington Wild Things News Release
CRESTWOOD, IL - The Washington Wild Things evened the series up in game two of three against the Windy City Thunderbolts on Wednesday, July 8. Windy City found themselves ahead early in the game, but the Wild Things showed their resiliency to overcome the Thunderbolts 3-2. Ernesto Zaragoza picked up his fifth win of the season while his mound counterpart Danny Jimenez was charged with the loss.
Windy City got out to the early lead in the second, scoring on a throwing error to go ahead 1-0. Washington struck back in the fourth on a two out, two-run double by second baseman Matt Peters, scoring Scott Kalamar and David Popkins.
Kalamar increased the lead 3-1 in the sixth with an RBI single scoring Sam Mende. The Thunderbolts made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh when Jonathan Garcia drove in a run to cut the lead to 3-2. Washington was able to put together some stout defense, however, securing their 3-2 victory.
