Washington Wild Things News Release

The Washington Wild Things (61-30), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, dropped game two of a three game series to Florence Freedom at Champion Window field in Florence, KY Thursday.

Wild Things scored first in the second inning when T.J. Graves drove in Mike Arbinger.

In the sixth inning the Wild Things score two runs on two hits and an error. Graves drove in Randy McGarvey who had a lead-off double, and Andy Hudak scored.

The Freedom tied it up in the bottom of the sixth, however, when Scott Martin hit a three run homer to tie the game at three, eventually taking the game into extra innings.

In the tenth Washington threatened, but fell short leaving the bases loaded; Florence's Greg Stone, however, scored on a Darren Kinsolving single to win the game.

The victory keeps the Freedom's hopes alive in the playoff picture. Their victory, coupled with Evansville and Chillicothe losses* would keep Florence in the hunt for a playoff berth.

Stephen Spragg took the loss, allowing one hit and one run in his two-thirds innings of working. Jim Popp pitched two scoreless innings and starter, Ryan Douglass, allowed three runs in his six innings of work.

The Wild Things and the Freedom meet for the third and final game of the series Friday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Air time on WJPA 95.3 F.M. is 6:55 p.m.
