Washington assigns Giroux to Hershey

HERSHEY - The 2006 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today that right wing Alexandre Giroux has been assigned by the Washington Capitals. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and Capitals VP/General Manager George McPhee

Giroux, a teammate of current BEARS center Chad Wiseman, scored 36 goals last season for Hartford (AHL), and also led the Wolf Pack in postseason goals and points. He also made his NHL debut last season with the New York Rangers. A 1999 draft pick of the Ottawa Senators, Giroux is expected to skate with HERSHEY for practice Wednesday at HERSHEYPARK Arena beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Following a season-opening four-game road trip that begins Saturday in Wilkes-Barre, HERSHEY will play its regular season home opener on Saturday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Pre-game ceremonies that night will honor the 2006 Calder Cup Champions prior to face-off. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
