
P-Bruins Announce Roster Moves

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced they have released defensemen Jay Pemberton, Jason Platt and forward Daniel Sparre from training camp.
Pemberton, 22, spent the past four seasons at Providence College, where he had 46 points (11g, 35a) and 112 PIM in 135 career collegiate games. The Cumberland, Rhode Island native won three Rhode Island state championships with Mount St. Charles. Pemberton was originally drafted by the Florida Panthers with their sixth pick, 124th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Platt, 25, played 60 games last season with the Iowa Stars of the AHL, recording five assists and 43 PIM. During his first full professional season, Platt skated in 44 games with the Edmonton Roadrunners tallying a goal and an assist along with 28 PIM. Before turning pro, the San Francisco, California native played four seasons at Providence College where he had 24 points (5g, 19a) and 149 PIM in 126 games. Platt was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers with their ninth pick (eighth round), 247th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Sparre, 21, has one professional season under his belt after splitting last season with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack and the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers. In 53 games, Sparre had 23 points (12g, 11a) and 24 PIM. Before turning pro, the Brampton, Ontario native spent three seasons in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads and Victoriaville Tigers, where he had 180 points (95g, 85a) and 186 PIM in 203 career junior games.
The Bruins begin regular season play Saturday night, October 7, when they travel to take on the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center. The game begins at 7:05 p.m.
The Providence Bruins' home opener for the 2006-07 season is October 13 versus the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
