
Warriors Outlast Legends in Overtime

SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Texas Legends split the weekend series in Santa Cruz with an overtime loss to the Warriors Saturday night 108-113.
The Warriors took an early lead and used an 8-0 run to go up by 10 in the middle of the first. Texas utilized a balanced scoring attack, with points from all nine active players to swing the pendulum and take a 10-point lead the other direction. Tu Holloway and Brandon Ashley added 7 points each as the Legends shot 50% and held a 35-25 lead at the buzzer. The advantage continued to grow through the second but remained a 10-point gap at halftime as Darington Hobson fought to match the Legends scoring with 12 of the Warriors' 21 points.
Texas maintained their first quarter lead through the second half, extending it to 17 in the third. With 2:48 to play, the Legends held a six-point advantage but Santa Cruz was chipping away. After six unanswered points, the Warriors tied it up with seconds on the clock and the Legends were unable to find an answer. The momentum changed in overtime as Elliot Williams hit the foul line early to give the Warriors the lead they would carry through the extra minutes. The Legends went 100% from the free throw line but were unable to create opportunities elsewhere as the home team evened out the series 1-1.
Jamil Wilson led the Legends with 19 points and added 5 rebounds, 2 assists. Allen Durham came off the bench for a double-double of 13 points, 12 rebounds and Micheal Eric added the team's other double-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds.
Williams had a game-high 33 points for the Warriors while Hobson and Verdell Jones added 22 points apiece.
