
Warriors Defeat Texas in Overtime Thriller

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (5-4) defeated the Texas Legends (4-3) 113-108 in overtime on Friday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Elliot Williams paced the Warriors with 33 points and 8 assists. Darington Hobson recorded 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Verdell Jones III added 22 points on a 9-of-16 shooting effort.
Jamil Wilson paced the Legends with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Micheal Eric (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Allen Durham (13 points, 12 rebounds) both notched double-doubles while Toure' Murry added 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The Warriors would start hot behind Elliot Williams's 10 points, taking the early 14-4 lead in the opening five minutes of the game. The Legends would rally back with an 18-6 run to take a two-point lead with under 4 minutes to go in the first quarter. Texas would extend their advantage by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, entering the break with the 56-46 lead.
Texas would hold their advantage throughout the third quarter, entering the fourth quarter with the 86-71 lead. The Warriors would chip away at the Texas lead in the early minutes of the fourth quarter, putting together a 14-8 run to come within 5 points of the Legends with 4:01 left in the game. Darington Hobson scored 6 points in the final three minutes of the contest to tie up the score at 104, sending the game into overtime.
Elliot Williams notched 5 points in the first minute of overtime to put the Warriors ahead 109-104. Texas would cut the Warriors lead to just one point with 1:18 left in overtime. Two made free throws from Elliot Williams would extend the Santa Cruz advantage to three points. Verdell Jones III sealed the victory with a steal in the final 2.9 seconds with the Warriors topping the Legends 113-108.
