
D-Fenders Comeback Falls Short vs. Bakersfield

EL SEGUNDO - The D-Fenders fell to the Bakersfield Jam 108-103 tonight in El Segundo.
Vander Blue (22 points, five assists) and Malcolm Thomas (20 points, 11 rebounds) paced the D-Fenders (6-4). Josh Magette (15 points, seven assists), Jamaal Franklin (14 points), Andre Ingram (11 points, six assists) and Justin Hawkins (10 points) all scored in double-digits for Los Angeles.
Askia Booker (25 points), Earl Clark (23 points, 11 rebounds) and Terrico White (22 points, eight rebounds) all reached the 20-point mark for Bakersfield (4-5). Deonte Burton also reached double-figures with 17 points for the Jam.
Each team shot above .500 from the field in the first quarter, with Los Angeles edging Bakersfield 32-31 in the quarter, behind 10 points from Franklin off the bench. Burton scored nine points in the frame for the Jam. Things slowed down in the second, with the Jam outscoring the D-Fenders 24-20 behind eight points from Booker. At the half, Bakersfield held a 55-52 advantage.
Los Angeles really struggled in the third quarter, as Bakersfield outscored the D-Fenders 33-22. Blue had 10 of Los Angeles' 18 points, but the D-Fenders trailed 88-74 after three. Los Angeles mounted a comeback in the fourth, and trailed by two with two minutes remaining. The D-Fenders couldn't complete the comeback, falling short 108-103.
The D-Fenders shot .513 from the field, compared to .476 for the Jam. Los Angeles turned the ball over 16 times, while Bakersfield finished with eight turnovers. Bakersfield held the edge in free throws, connecting on 23-of-30, compared to 11-of-18 for Los Angeles.
Los Angeles hosts the Austin Spurs on Friday, December 11th at 7:30pm PT in El Segundo.
