Santa Cruz Warriors News Release
SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (18-16) dropped a wire-to-wire 152-117 decision against the Iowa Wolves (17-18) Wednesday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The Warriors head into the All-Star break 0.5 games out of first place in the Pacific Division, trailing only the 18-15 Stockton Kings.
Santa Cruz trailed by double digits much of the first half and gave up 82 points in the first 24 minutes, tying the most they have given up in the first half this season (January 18, 2020 vs OKC). Timberwolves two-way player Kelan Martin led all scorers with a career-high 37 points, including 20 points in the first half.
The Wolves led by at least double-digit points the entire second half, building their lead up to as many as 38 against a depleted Warriors roster that featured only eight available players for the third-straight game. Iowa recorded its highest-scoring game of the season at 152 points, the most points surrendered by Santa Cruz since a 155-148 loss at Rio Grande Valley on Jan. 9, 2017.
Isaiah Reese tallied a new career-high with 34 points (previously 15 points) for the Warriors to go with six assists. Deyonta Davis registered his eighth double-double of the season and fourth in a row with 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Timberwolves assignment players and former Golden State Warriors Jacob Evans III (two points, three rebounds) and Omari Spellman (15 points, seven rebounds) returned to Northern California as members of the Iowa Wolves.
Following the All-Star break, the Warriors return to action at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Thursday, February 20 at 7 p.m against the Agua Caliente Clippers. Fans can view the game on NBC Sports Bay Area PLUS or stream on ESPN+. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a Hardwood Classics Pennant courtesy of Devcon Construction Inc.
