Walleye Notes

Ø Another Positive Week: Toledo took a hard fought 2-1 shootout win over Kalamazoo on Friday night. The Walleye trailed 2-0 in the shootout before Anthony Luciani, Shane Berschbach and Tyler Barnes scored to give Toledo the win. Kyle Rogers scored on Toledo's first shot of the game, but the Allen Americans shut down the Walleye after that in a 3-1 loss Saturday. Martin Frk did the same thing Sunday by scoring on the first Walleye shot and Toledo downed the Wheeling Nailers 5-2.

Ø Huntington Center Rocking: Saturday night set a new Huntington Center record for attendance with 8,300 breaking the old mark of 8,250 set on October 15, 2011 vs. Chicago. Toledo is averaging 6, 576 fans per game, which is third in the ECHL.

Ø Still the Best of All-Time: Through 38 games played this season, Toledo has set a new record for the most points (59) by any Toledo ECHL team in history. The previous best was the 2002-03 Toledo Storm team that had a record of 27-7-4 (58 points) through their first 38 contests. The 1991-92 Storm team had a record of 28-9-1 (57) for the most wins through 38 contests. The six regulation losses by this year's club is also a Toledo ECHL record.

Ø Bouncing Back All Season Long: With its win on Sunday, Toledo has a record of 11-0-0-0 in games following any kind of loss this season.

Ø Lerg Ties Record: By collecting two more wins this week, goaltender Jeff Lerg has tied the Toledo Walleye record for consecutive wins at seven straight set by Alec Richards from December 12, 2009 through January 17, 2010. Lerg has not lost a game since a 2-1 loss to Kalamazoo on December 27 and he is currently third among all ECHL goaltenders with 19 wins.

Ø The Week Ahead: The Walleye have two games coming this week against division rivals. The first is a Friday night tilt against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The two have not played each other since November 9 in Toledo when the Walleye won a 13 round shootout 4-3. Saturday in Fort Wayne starts a stretch of five of six games on the road. Toledo is 3-0-0-1 against the Komets this season.

Walleye Player of the Week:

Justin Mercier (2 goals - 1 assist = 3 points)

Walleye Goaltender of the Week:

Jeff Lerg (2-0-0, 1.44 GAA, .947 save %)
