Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans started off their week facing the Missouri Mavericks on Monday afternoon. They ended their week by playing three straight on the road in three different states. The Americans opened against the Indy Fuel on Friday night, then traveled 200 miles north to take on the Toledo Walleye, and finally arriving in Michigan to finish with the Kalamazoo Wings on Sunday afternoon.

Monday, January 19th vs. Missouri - 5-2 Win
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Missouri Mavericks for the 7th straight time this season, taking a 5-2 win on Monday afternoon. Chad Costello netted his 19th and 20th goals on the season and finished with three points. Costello assisted on Justin Baker's 7th goal of the year in the win. Gary Steffes scored number 24 of the season to regain the top spot in the ECHL in goals scored. Josef Fojtik scored his first of the year, and first in an Americans sweater. The Missouri Mavericks scored on a shorthanded penalty shot by Jared Brown, while Riley Grantham scored his first of the year, but it was not enough to propel them to a victory.
Friday, January 23rd @ Indianapolis - 4-1 Loss
Indianapolis, Indiana - Gary Steffes scored his 25th of the season, the lone goal of the night, in a 4-1 loss to the Indy Fuel on Friday evening. This was the first game of a three game Midwest road trip, and the first and only meeting between the two teams in the regular season.
Saturday, January 24th @ Toledo - 3-1 Win
Toledo, Ohio - The Allen Americans would come from behind to win it 3-1 in Toledo on Saturday night. Kyle Rogers put the Walleye ahead early, but the Americans would score three straight from Jamie Schaafsma, Gary Steffes and Rylan Schwartz, who added an empty net goal, his 6th of the season, late in the third period to secure the win.
Sunday, January 25th @ Kalamazoo - 4-3 OT Loss
Kalamazoo, Michigan - Despite jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd period, the Americans fell in overtime 4-3 to the Kalamazoo Wings in their final road game of the weekend. Chad Costello earned three points (1g, 2a) and the 3rd Star of the night. Ian Schultz scored his 17th goal of the season, while Kevin Young had a goal and an assist. The Wings tied it up with 26 seconds left in regulation to take the match into overt time. Zach McCullough scored two minutes and eleven seconds into the extra time, making it the 4th unanswered goal of the night, sealing Kalamazoo's victory.
