Walleye Notes

Ø To the Break We Go! Toledo heads into the Christmas break following a three game week. Toledo collected a point Tuesday morning in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Greenville Road Warriors. Saturday night, Tyler Barnes collected 4 points (1G, 3A) in a 4-0 win at Indy. Saturday night, goaltender Neil Conway made 35 saves to lead the Walleye to a 4-1 win in Kalamazoo.

Ø Owning the Road! The wins over the weekend pushed Toledo's road record to 11-2-0. The Walleye record for road wins in a season is 19 set in 2012-13 (19-14-3).

Ø Battle for the Best! This year's team has been flirting with Toledo ECHL history all season long. By finishing the week 2-0-1 the Walleye currently has 41 points through 26 games tying the 1991-92 Toledo Storm team that also had 41 points through 26 games of that season (20-5-1).

Ø Barnes Leads the Way! Tyler Barnes is currently third among all ECHL players in scoring with 33 points. The first year forward has 22 points (9G, 13A) in his last thirteen games.

Ø Shutting Them Down! Goaltender Jeff Lerg posted his second shutout of the season Friday night with 25 saves in a 4-0 win at Indy. He also shut down Evansville 5-0 on November 8. Lerg is tied with several goaltenders that have a pair of shutouts.

Ø History in the Making, Winterfest! History will be made Saturday night when the Toledo Walleye play the first ever outdoor hockey game in the history of the ECHL at Fifth Third Field! Toledo will host the Kalamazoo Wings in the game, and the Walleye have a record of 3-1-0 against the Wings this year including a 4-1 win this past Saturday in Kalamazoo.
