
Fort Wayne's Szydlowski Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Shawn Szydlowski of the Fort Wayne Komets is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 15-21.
Szydlowski scored three goals and added three assists for six points in three games last week as the Komets' unbeaten streak reached 11 games (10-0-1).
The 24-year-old had three points (2g-1a) in a 5-4 win at Kalamazoo on Friday, tallied an assist in a 3-1 victory over Indy on Saturday and added a goal and an assist in a 4-3 shootout win against Evansville on Sunday.
A native of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Szydlowski leads Fort Wayne, and is tied for fourth overall in the league, with 29 points (15g-14a) in 26 games.
Szydlowski has 58 points (27g-31a) in 95 career ECHL games with Fort Wayne and Gwinnett and he has added eight assists in 62 career American Hockey League games with Portland and Rochester.
Prior to turning pro, he tallied 197 points (94g-103a) in 258 career games with Erie of the Ontario Hockey League.
On behalf of Shawn Szydlowski, a case of pucks will be donated to a Fort Wayne youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 31,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
