Walleye Notes

Ø Striking at the Gladiators! The weekend started for the Walleye Saturday night in Gwinnett. The Gladiators took a 2-0 lead into the third period and held off the Walleye 3-1. Toledo responded with an offensive burst Sunday afternoon to rebound and beat Gwinnett 5-2.With the win, the Walleye are now 3-1-0 on the road to start the season.

Ø A BIG Second! Toledo set a season high with four goals scored in the second period. All four were scored by four different players: Kyle Bonis, Richard Nedomlel, Anthony Luciani and Dane Walters.

Ø The Lerg Wall! Walleye goaltender Jeff Lerg turned aside a season high 36 shots on Sunday in Gwinnett. The 28-year-old goaltender has a 2.01 goals against average and a .929 save percentage on the season with a 2-1-0 record.

Ø Still Streaking Along! Forward Anthony Luciani scored a goal in each game this past week to give him at least a point in all five games for the Walleye. Luciani has two goals and a team best five assists. He is also tied with Dane Walters leading the Walleye with seven points.

Ø Coming Back to TTown! Toledo will finish up its five game road trip in South Carolina on Tuesday night. The Walleye were 0-3-1 in four contests against the Stingrays last season. Saturday night opens up a nine game home stand for Toledo as the Evansville IceMen come to town. Toledo has an all-time record of 10-7-1 against the IceMen. Sunday evening the Cincinnati Cyclones will invade Toledo. It will be the second meeting of the season between the I-75 rivals, with Cincinnati taking game one 4-1 on October 18, the season opener.

Ø Promotions! Saturday night is "Princess Night" with the Walleye featuring 'Frozen's' Ana and the Snow Queen as special guests! Take pictures with your favorite princess during the game on the concourse and dress in your favorite costume. Sunday is "Kids Day" with the Walleye featuring the season's first postgame open skate hosted by Kiss FM and the River!
