Kalamazoo will begin the week this Friday, November 7th with a 7:30 p.m. face-off at Wings Stadium versus the Elmira Jackals. Friday night will be the first 3,2,1...Countdown to Fun featuring $3 beers, $2 Pepsi products and $1 hot dogs. On November 7th, the K-Wings will host their second annual Van Andel Institute Purple Community Game presented by Lake Michigan Credit Union.

This game is a continuation of VAI's grassroots fundraising program Purple Community, and raises funds for cancer and neurodegenerative disease research and science education at Van Andel Institute.

Fans can purchase a special Purple Pack for the game on November 7th to support disease research and science education at Van Andel Institute. The Purple Pack includes an exclusive Purple Community-K-Wings t-shirt, Purple Community drawstring bag, bracelet and ticket to the game. Purple Packs for red level seats are $25 and $21 for white level seats. Seven dollars from each Purple Pack will be donated to Van Andel Institute. Purple Packs can be purchased as a "special offer" through Ticketmaster at http://bit.ly/PurpleKWings or at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office.

On the season the K-Wings are 1-1-0-0 versus the Jackals (4-2-0-1, 9 points), who start the week in second place in the East Division.

The K-Wings and Jackals will square off again at Wings Stadium on Saturday, November 8th at 7:30 p.m. Saturday will be Military Appreciation Night presented by AmeriFirst Home Mortgage. Between now and this Saturday the first 300 active or retired military personnel that come to Wings Stadium Ticket Office will receive a FREE ticket to the game. Family members of the service men and women or any active or retired military members that want tickets after the FREE allotment have expired can purchase a seat for an incredibly discounted cost of $8.

The K-Wings will be wearing special military jerseys that will be auction off following the game with the proceeds benefiting Talons Out. Fans coming to the game dressed in a patriotic theme can also win this Saturday. Talons Out will give away a prize package to the person dressed the most patriotic. The basket will include the following:

Jewel of the Mall book, Honor Flight: The Movie, Talons Out Patch, American Flags (2), Patriotic Fans (2), Talons Out Wristbands (2), Navy Coozie, Army Lanyard, Multiple Face Tattoos, Patriotic Beads and a Talons Out Honor Flight Sweatshirt (choice of size and color).

Any fan that attends the game can also sign up to participate at the WRKR table for a chance to win $1,077 during the 2nd period intermission. Saturday will be the fourth and final regular season meeting between the teams.

Forward Curtis Valk has started the season on fire. Valk enters the week on a K-Wings' season-high seven-game point streak and leads all ECHL rookies in scoring with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists).

Home Sweet Home

After starting the season playing six out of their first seven games away from home, the K-Wings will finally get to spend some time at Wings Stadium. Starting this Friday Kalamazoo will commence a season-long five-game home stand.

High Octane Offense There has been no better scoring team in the ECHL than Kalamazoo. The K-Wings, who have scored 30 goals this season, are averaging 4.29 goals per game.

Thinking Positively

Defenseman Isaac Macleod has made a "positive" influence on the K-Wings. Macleod leads the team and is tied for second among all rookies with a plus/minus rating of plus-seven.

The Obscure Stat of the Week Outshooting the opposition has meant victories for Kalamazoo. So far this season the K-Wings are 3-0-0-0 when they have out-shot their opponents.
