Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans traveled to the Black Hills of South Dakota last week to battle division rival, Rapid City, in a two-game weekend set. The Americans were 4-2-0 against the Rush in 2013-2014, including 2-0 at Rushmore Civic Center.

Friday, October 31st @ Rapid City, 4-1 Win
Rapid City, South Dakota - The Allen Americans jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead on goals by Jack Combs, his 2nd of the year, and two from Ian Schultz, his 3rd and 4th of the season, leading Allen to a 4-1 victory. The Americans withheld a big third period charge by Rapid City, which saw the Rush outshoot the Americans 19 to 4 in the final frame. Riley Gill stopped 37 of 38 shots faced to earn the win.
Saturday, November 1st @ Rapid City, 4-2 Loss
Rapid City, South Dakota - Danny Battochio was outstanding on Saturday night, making up for his 3 goals on 5 shots performance on Friday, which saw him get pulled early in the first period. Battochio stopped 30 of 32 Allen shots in a 4-2 Rush victory to split the weekend set with the Americans. Rush forward Dylan Clarke scored a goal and assisted on three others to earn the number one star of the night.
Americans Add Skilled Local Product Austin Smith
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans of the ECHL, proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks of the NHL and Worcester Sharks of the AHL, announced last Saturday that the club has signed forward Austin Smith to a contract for the 2014-2015 season.
Austin Smith, a former fifth round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2007, was born in Texas. The Dallas native played in 38 games with the AHL's Texas Stars. He has previous ECHL experience, scoring 28 goals with 51 points in 42 games from 2012-2014.
