Walleye Notes

- Oh What A Night! The Lucas County Arena opened with a bang in front of a sellout crowd of 8,000 Walleye fans. It was the largest crowd to ever see a professional hockey game in Toledo.

- Fish Full of Tanguay! Maxime Tanguay became the first Walleye player to score a goal in the new Lucas County Arena when he tipped a rebound past Mike Morrison at 5:37 of the third period Friday night. Adam Hobson and Brock Wilson had the assists on the goal. The first official goal scored at the new arena was scored by Florida's Scott Hotham at 7:42 of the first period.

- Walleye Firsts! Tanguay scored the first Walleye goal, but there was other first opening night. Evan Rankin collected the first shot, Steve Oleksy was the first player to sit in the penalty box, Alec Richards was the first goaltender to start for the Walleye, and fan Jeremy Garret dropped the first puck.

- Walleye Wins! Following the loss Friday night the Walleye splashed into the win column with a 5-2 win Saturday night. Toledo was able to collect that win thanks to a 3 goal outburst in the third period.

- Walleye Working Overtime! Sunday the kids to a whale of a game as the Walleye collected their first win in extra time 4-3 over Florida. JC Sawyer scored 55 seconds into overtime to give the Walleye the win.

- Group of Nine! Over the first three games Toledo scored 10 goals by nine different goal scorers. Only Jamie Milam was able to light the lamp multiple times.

- Fantastic! Opening weekend at the new Lucas County Arena saw 20,664 fans enter the building for the Walleye's first three home games (6,888 avg.).

On the Hook

- Gametime! Friday night Toledo will be home against the Reading Royals. Toledo has an all-time record of 23-16-3 against the Royals.

On Saturday night, the Trenton Devils. Toledo is 24-28-5 all-time vs. the Devils. October 24th is also Halloween Hockey Night at the Arena!

Walleye Player of the Week:

Jamie Milam (2 goals - 3 assists = 5 points)

Milam scored the game-winning goal Saturday night and then assisted on the winning goal Sunday.

Walleye Goaltender of the Week:

Jordan Pearce (1-0-0, 2.00 gaa, 0.946 save%)

Jordan was outstanding in his first start for the Walleye as he stopped 35 of 37 shots in Saturday night's 5-2 win.
