
Hillier Recalled To Hartford By Rangers

CHARLOTTE, NC-Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced today that forward Ryan Hillier has been recalled by the New York Rangers to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. It is the first such call-up for the former third-round pick.
Hillier, in his second season with the Checkers, is property of the New York Rangers after signing an NHL contract last summer. In 66 games last season, the native of Halifax, Nova Scotia tallied 10 goals and 16 assists. His 26 points tied him for second in Checkers rookie scoring. He was also the Checkers' ace-in-the-hole in shootouts last season with six goals on 10 attempts. Before turning pro, Hillier played four seasons for the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 2007-08, the 6-foot, 200-pound winger led Halifax in goals (34), power-play goals (13) and short-handed goals (5). He notched 86 goals and 104 assists in 229 career QMJHL games.
