Everblades Chomp Out Three Of A Possible Six Points In T-Town

The Brahbam Cup Champs from 2008-09 welcomed the new-look Toledo Walleye into the ECHL this past weekend with three straight games. Florida spoiled Toledo's first-ever game in the Lucas County Arena with a 2-1 victory. The Everblades would go on to lose the next two meetings, one in regulation and the other in overtime. The Walleye and Everblades will meet five more times this season, with three of those games taking place in Southwest Florida at Germain Arena.

LAST WEEK Friday, October 16 @ Toledo Lucas County Arena 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: The first of eight meetings this season went to the Florida Everblades. Florida ruined the opening night party for the Walleye claiming a 2-1 win in front of a sell-out crowd of 8,000 in the new Lucas County Arena in downtown Toledo. Forwards Jacob Micflikier (1g, 1a) and Rob Hennigar (2a) led the way for the Everblades, while defenseman Scott Hotham added a power play goal.

Saturday, October 17 @ Toledo Lucas County Arena 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: The Walleye got even with the Everblades posting a 5-2 win in front of a near sell-out crowd of 7,467. Toledo outscored the 'Blades 3-0 in the third period en route to their first victory ever in Lucas County Arena. Defenseman Jamie Milam was the hero (1g, 2a, GW) for the Walleye, while defensive mate J. Charlebois (1g, 1a) tallied two points. The Everblades scoring came from two rookies: Brandon Buck (1) and Jordan Morrison (1).

Sunday, November 18 @ Toledo Lucas County Arena 5:30PM

GAME NOTES: The rubber match of the three-game set was a hard fought battle that went into overtime. Toledo prevailed 4-3 after converting on a four-on-three power play just 55-seconds into the five-minute OT stanza. Jean Claude Sawyer (1) registered the game winner. Defenseman AJ Thelen (2g) accounted for two of the three Everblade markers in the game.

Friday, October 23 vs Charlotte Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: This weekend's games at Germain Arena begin the first of 14 battles between these two clubs. Each team will host seven divisional games. The Checkers are the first team to visit Germain Arena this season and they will be the last to exit on April 2-3. It is Seminole Tribe of Southwest Florida night with the first 5,000 fans to receive rally towels.

Saturday, October 24 vs Charlotte Germain Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: Game two of the mini two-game set finishes up Saturday night. The game can be seen locally on MY TV-8. Jani King is giving away free magnetic schedules to the first 5,000 fans and State Farm Insurance is handing out foam goalie masks as well. A pre-game tailgate party featuring food and drink specials plus live music precedes the face off.

Morrison was solid in net for Florida this weekend. The Maine Black Bear graduate stopped 18 of 19 shots in Florida's loan win this week and 26 of 30 shots in the overtime loss to Toledo on Sunday.

Hennigar played a part in setting up both goals Friday night in Toledo in the 'Blades 2-1 victory. The Jordan, Ontario native put the Everblades on the scoreboard first Sunday afternoon with his first goal of the season. Hennigar finished the week with three points (1g, 2a).
