Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - Head coach Derek Laxdal announced Monday that the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with defenseman Aaron MacKenzie.

MacKenzie, 28, will join the Steelheads after six seasons in the American Hockey League. He made his NHL debut last season, skating in five games for the Colorado Avalanche.

The Terrace Bay, Ontario, native has logged 366 games in the American Hockey League - the top level of minor-league play in North American hockey. He played in 52 games for the Lake Erie Monsters last season, totaling 12 points (3 goals, 9 assists). He has 62 career points (13 goals, 49 assists) as a professional from the blue line.

MacKenzie is expected to travel with the team to West Valley, UT, this weekend as the Steelheads take on the Utah Grizzlies Friday and Saturday night.

The Steelheads return to Qwest Arena on November 7 to face the Utah Grizzlies. It's a "Sellout Saturday" at Qwest Arena -- if the game is a sellout, pitchers of beer and soda are half-price in the SportZone after the game. Tickets are available at the Qwest Arena box office or by calling 208.331.TIXS. Full-season and partial-season ticket plans remain available as well. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
