Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta Lynx goaltender Mike Wall has been named Runner-Up for Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week honors for the period ending March 26, 2006.

The 20-year-old rookie netminder stopped all 32 shots faced to shut out the Florida Everblades and help the Lynx clinch their first playoff berth since the 2000-01 season in his only appearance this week. Wall is 8-8-1 with Augusta this season, posting a 3.96 GAA and .878 save percentage.

An undrafted free agent, Wall signed a three-year deal with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim after a spectacular training camp with the team this season. He began the year backing up for eight games in the NHL before being assigned to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League. With the Pirates this season, the Telkwa, British Columbia native went 5-5-0 with a 3.38 GAA and .887 save percentage.

Augusta will round out their regular season home schedule with three games this week, starting Thursday and Friday with the Gwinnett Gladiators, followed by the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday. All three games will face off at 7:35 pm, with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show kicking off one half-hour before faceoff on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. Tickets for all three regular season home games as well as playoff packages are on sale now through the Lynx office by calling (706) 714-4ICE. Get your seats for the playoffs now!
